Due to the success of the recycling bin pilot program, the City of Mesquite will be distributing an additional 5,600 green recycling bins beginning the last week of March 2010. These bins, purchased with grant monies from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, will be distributed on selected residential streets to provide more citizens in Mesquite an opportunity to recycle.

Recycling bins are being provided for free in the hopes that those who choose not to purchase blue recycling bags may opt to take part in recycling if they had a cheaper option.

If participation increases enough, then money made from selling the recycled materials would be used to purchase more bins to expand the program throughout the city.

For those residents not in the pilot program, you may request a green recycling bin by contacting
