Compost Facility
The Compost Facility is located in Mesquite at 3550 Lawson Rd. One-half
mile south of Cartwright Rd. and two and one-half miles North of Interstate-20
East. The facility is open from 9am-4pm everyday except Wednesday,
Sunday, and holidays. Mesquite residents may pick up a maximum of two
cubic yards of compost and unlimited mulch at no charge. Residents
may also deposit brush and tree limbs at the compost facility at no
charge. Please have your driver’s license and utility bill on
hand for proof of residency.
Non residence and contractors may pick up a maximum of two cubic yards
of compost for a fee of $10.00 per cubic yard, and mulch for a fee
of $4.00 per cubic yard. Non residents and contractors may deposit
brush, grass, and leaves for a fee. Finish compost is available on
a first come first serve basis.
Citizens Convenience Center
The Citizens Convenience Center is located in Mesquite, at 3550 Lawson
Rd. One-half mile south of Cartwright Rd and two and one-half miles
North of Interstate-20 East. The facility is open from 9am-4pm everyday
except Wednesday, Sunday, and holidays. Mesquite residents may drop
off the following items at no charge: Any non-hazardous household
waste, furniture, lumber, fencing, and junk items. Residents may
also drop off the following recyclable items at the center, appliances,
tin, steel, aluminum, iron, cardboard, newspaper, plastic containers
(DET No's 1-7), plastic containers (HOPE No. 2), magazines,
telephone books, glass (all colors) and automotive batteries.
Garbage Collection Day
Garbage collection will be collected from either your alley or your
front curb depending on your area in which you live. Click

in plastic garbage bags or a garbage can no larger than 32 gallons.
Black garbage bags may be purchased at any 7-11 convenience
store throughout the City of Mesquite or at the City cashier located
at 711 N. Galloway Ave. Small items weighing less than 50 lbs. or
smaller than 4 feet long, 2 feet wide, 2 feet tall may also be placed
at the regular garbage collection location. Items weighing over 50
lbs. or larger then 4 feet long, 2 feet wide, 2 feet tall are considered
large bulky items, and should be placed at your curb for collection.
Large items will not be picked up in the alley. Please notify the
Solid Waste Division when you place items in the front. Click

Yardwaste Collection
Small yard waste is grass, leaves, and small limbs. These items are
collected each Wednesday from your regular garbage collection location.
Grass and leaves should be placed in plastic bags, and small limbs
must be placed in a pile no larger than 4 feet long, 2 feet wide,
and 2 feet tall. Brush piles larger then 4 feet long, 2 feet wide,
2 feet tall should be placed at the front curb not blocking the sidewalk
or street. Large piles of brush will not be collected in your alley.

Blue Bag Recycling
Blue bags are collected on one of your two garbage pickup days. Click

purchased at any 7-11 convenience store throughout the

Large brush, bulky items
Brush piles larger then 4 feet long, 2 feet wide, 2 feet tall should
be placed at the front curb not blocking the sidewalk or street.
Large piles of brush will not be collected in your alley. Junk weighing
over 50 lbs. or larger then 4 feet long, 2 feet wide, 2 feet tall
is considered large bulky items, and should be placed at your curb

Appliances
Appliances may be placed at the curb or alley for pickup please make
sure all appliances are secure from small children. Please notify
Solid Waste Division when you place an appliance out for pickup Click

the next Wednesday following your request.

Mesquite residents my take hazardous material to The Dallas County
Home Chemical Collection Center located at 11234 Plano Road Dallas,
Texas 75243 (between Miller Road and Forest Lane see MAPSCO 28-A).
There is no charge for Mesquite residents please have your driver’s
license and utility bill on hand for proof of residency.

Landfills
The City of Mesquite does not have a landfill.
Missed Garbage/Brush/Blue Bags/Junk
Please call 972-216-6285 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Monday Thru Friday or refer to the Online Customer
Service Desk.
Medical Sharps Disposal
It is unlawful to dispose medical sharps in solid waste placed
outside for collection unless medical sharps are encapsulated
in containers designed for such disposal. These containers
can be obtained by our citizens at no cost. Please contact

containers.
