MESQUITE CELEBRATES NATIONAL ANIMAL SHELTER APPRECIATION WEEK

(Mesquite, Texas)– The Mesquite Animal Shelter and Adoption Center will hold an open house in conjunction with National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. The shelter will offer tours and other information for anyone curious about how the shelter works or how to adopt animals. The open house will be offered Monday, November 2, through Saturday, November 7, 2009, from 1 – 5 p.m.

In addition to the open house, on Saturday, November 21, 2009, the Mesquite Animal Shelter and Adoption Center will host a low-cost pet vaccination and microchip clinic provided by Kaufman County Animal Awareness Project from 2 – 5 p.m.

In the past year, the City of Mesquite Animal Services Division has adopted 1,515 dogs and cats to responsible, loving homes, returned 782 lost pets to their owners, placed 572 animals with rescue organizations and responded to 10,658 animal related calls.
