The Mesquite Police Department is a dynamic agency with an authorized strength of 229 sworn officers and 85 non-sworn employees. The men and women of the Mesquite Police Department are dedicated to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all those who reside in, or visit, our community. The Department utilizes cutting-edge technology as well as proven, traditional law enforcement techniques in providing police services to the citizens of Mesquite.
The structure of the Mesquite Police Department is described below:
Administration consists of the Chief, 2 Assistant Chiefs, Internal Affairs Sergeant, Planning & Research Officer, Administrative Aide, and 2 Executive Secretaries. Administration contains the following units: Executive Staff, Internal Affairs, Computer Systems Administration, and Planning & Research.
Operations consists of 1 Captain, 5 Lieutenants, 11 Sergeants, 115 Patrol Officers, 8 Traffic Officers, 1 Office Coordinator, 1 Payroll Technician, and 2 Public Service Officers. Operations contains the following units: Patrol and Traffic.
Criminal Investigations consists of 1 Captain, 1 Lieutenant, 6 Sergeants, 40 Investigators, 4 Administrative Secretaries, and 1 Secretary. Criminal Investigations contains the following units: Crimes Against Persons, Property Crimes, Juvenile/Forgery, Narcotics/Gangs, and Intelligence.
Technical Services consists of 1 Captain, 2 Lieutenants, 5 Sergeants, 19 Detention Officers, 3 Communications Supervisors, 34 Public Safety Dispatchers, 1 Records Supervisor, 9 Records Clerks, 1 Office Coordinator, and 1 Property Room Clerk. Technical Services contains the following units: Police/Fire/EMS Dispatch, Detentions, Police Property & Evidence, Police Records, and Alarms.
Staff Support consists of 1 Captain, 1 Lieutenant, 2 Sergeants, 2 Crime Prevention Officers, 1 Range Officer, 2 LETS Officers, 11 SROs, 1 Multi-media Officer, 2 background Investigators, and 1 Office Coordinator. Staff Support contains the following units: Police Personnel, Training, Crime Prevention, School Resource Officer, and Law Enforcement Teaching Students (LETS).
