Starting Salary: $13.94/hr.

Will participate in the processing of prisoners for detention in the municipal jail. Will oversee the safety and well-being of all prisoners and will provide responsible administrative and technical support to the detention function in a stressful environment. Must obtain a Notary Public Certification from the State of Texas within five (5) days of employment. Depending upon your work assignment, you may be required to obtain certification as an intoxilyzer operator from the Texas Department of Public Safety within one (1) year of employment. Must be able to type 20 words per minute. Must also possess a valid Class C Texas driver's license.

M ust be 18 years of age, have a High School Diploma or GED on hire date. No experience required. Applications will be accepted from candidates 6 months prior to receiving High School Diploma/GED and 18 th birthday.

An Applicant’s History Questionnaire must be completed and returned to the Human Resources Department at time of testing. Position requires candidate to be willing to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift including weekends, holidays and extended hours in emergency, disaster, or other situations.

TESTING REQUIRED: Must pass Typing Test (20 wpm)

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older on hire date
• High school graduate or GED equivalent on hire date
• Type 20 wpm (testing required)
• Able to search prisoners, as needed
• Able to work all shifts
• Ability to successfully complete the Mesquite Police Department hiring process
