BLAST Day Camp

BLAST (Bringing Leadership, Art and Sports Together) is a summer day camp program for children ages 6-12 held on a weekly basis for 8 weeks. Activities include swimming, games, crafts, field trips, nature walks and other exciting adventures. Campers build self-esteem, develop social skills and improve health and fitness while exploring different themes each week. Fees are $75 for one camper per week and scholarships are available for Mesquite residents. Lunch is provided except on field trip days. To qualify, families must provide copies of the following by Wednesday of the week before camp:

1. Proof of participation in state or federal-assistance program (TANF, Reduced Lunch/Free Lunch Program, Medicaid or Food Stamps)
2. Proof of income with a check stub for each individual over the age of 18 living in the household
3. Drivers License or Texas ID
4. Mesquite utility bill or other proof of residency

Camp BLAST Enrichment opportunities will be available for an additional fee with the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas and the Junior Players performing arts camp. BLAST summer dates and weekly themes are as follows:

• Week 8: August 3-7, Music Mania

Preschool Pals

Looking for a day camp for your little one this summer? Join us at one of our preschool camps at Evans or Florence Recreation Centers where your child will enjoy summer fun and exciting activities. This class will include creative art, social interaction, singing and story time, as well as Splash Day. Dont miss out on the fun your child will experience! Participants will need to bring a sack lunch each day. Preschool Pals is for kids ages 3-5 and is offered from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The weekly fee is $50 per child and the themes for each week are as follows:

• June 8-12: Under the Big Top
• June 15-19: Wild, Wild West
• June 22-26: Tiny Chefs
• June 29-July 3: Snap, Crackle, Pop!
• July 6-10: Creepy, Crawly Critters
• July 13-17: Down on the Farm
• July 20-24: Under the Sea
• July 27-31: Tiny Picassos

Camp Rorie Galloway

Camp Rorie Galloway is an action-packed and exciting way to enjoy the summer and create wonderful memories! This unique summer camp program focuses on team-oriented and individual outdoor activities with objectives in camper safety, new experiences, new friends, and building self-confidence by conquering challenges. The challenges that campers set for themselves lead to developing new skills and gaining appreciation for nature and the outdoors. Camp Rorie Galloway features a variety of nature-related activities, outdoor living skills, canoeing, swimming, nature crafts, fishing, hiking, archery, and a unique challenge course. Field trips are taken on Tuesday and swim days are on Thursday. A maximum of 75 participants will be accepted in each session. Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. The deadline for registration is Thursday prior to camp week. Parents must drop off and pick up their child directly at Camp Rorie Galloway.

The cost per week is $75 and campers are allowed to participate in multiple sessions. The times and tentative field trip destinations are scheduled as follows:

• Session I: June 15-19, Ft. Worth Zoo
• Session II: June 22-26, Cedar Hill State Park and Samuel Farm
• Session III: June 29-July 3, Wet Zone and Kids Quest
• Session IV: July 6-10, Dinosaur World/Dinosaur Valley State Park
• Session V: July 13-17, Hawaiian Falls
• Session VI: July 20-24, Lake Tawakoni State Park
• Coed Teen Camp: July 27-31, Service Project, Swimming, Rock Climbing

TAPS- Teen Adventures and Public Service

TAPS gives teens, ages 12-15, the opportunity to participate in service projects, taking field trips, attending local college tours, pursuing health and wellness, and appreciating the value of our community. The camp will be held at Dunford Recreation Center on Monday through Wednesday for 10 weeks beginning June 1st. Teens will be provided with supervised activities that teach leadership skills. Mondays will be spent traveling to Camp Rorie Galloway for team building activities, field trips will be taken on Tuesdays, and community service projects are reserved for Wednesdays.
The price for the camp is $30 per week, and dates are as follows:

• June 1-3
• June 8-9
• June 12-17
• June 22-24
• June 29-July 1
• July 6-8
• July 13-15
• July 20-22
• July 27-29
• August 3-5
