Neighborhood Stabilization Program
As an entitlement community, the City of Mesquite was awarded $2 million in Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) funding under the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008. These funds have helped fund the purchase and rehabilitation of foreclosed upon and vacant single-family homes within designated NSP target neighborhoods and surrounding areas: Casa View Heights, Truman Heights, Mesquite Park, Sherwood Forest, and areas of Creek Crossing.
The City of Mesquite will sell homes at or below costs needed to acquire and rehabilitate each home. Many of the homes have been rehabilitated to feature new Energy Star appliances, new carpeting, ceramic tiling, and a fresh coat of paint inside and out. In addition to owning a newly remodeled home, the City of Mesquite will provide funding for closing cost assistance to prospective homebuyers.
