Census Begins Address Convassing

This month the Census Bureau will start sending out thousands of address canvassers in the Metroplex to update the region's addresses. It is part of a nationwide effort to look for every place where people live, stay, or could live or stay.

During the canvassing Census workers compare what they see on the ground to what is shown on the Census Bureau’s address list. Based on their findings, the census workers will verify, update, or delete addresses already on the list, and add addresses that are missing.

In many cases, Census workers will knock on doors to verify addresses and inquire about additional living space. The Census workers can be identified by the official Census Bureau badge they carry. 2010 Census workers will never ask for bank or Social Security information.

All information collected by the Census is kept strictly confidential and cannot be shared with any other entity, not even the CIA, Secret Service or FBI. You can find out more about the 2010 Census by visiting www.census.gov.
