PROGRAMS, ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS

Programs are scheduled throughout the year for adults, young adults and children. Information about programs is included in the Parks and Recreation Department's Fun Forecast, in the Mesquite News, on flyers distributed throughout both libraries and in the Calendar of Events.

Preschool storytimes are held during the Fall and Spring and an extensive Summer Reading Club offers exciting reading programs for preschool and school-age children during the summer. Craft times, movie times and game activities are also held for children throughout the year.

We have a number of activities for teens. Get in the Game at the Mesquite North Branch Library invites teens to play games including Wii Sports, Super Mario for Wii, and Guitar Hero, and is designed for sixth through twelfth graders. At the Mesquite Main Library, teens from 13 to 18 years old can join the Anime Club where they watch and discuss anime. During the summer, the Teen Reading Club encourages teens to read for fun and enrichment. The Library has an adult Book Club that reads a different book each month and then meets to discuss it. The Book Club meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the meeting room of the Main Library. Special adult programming is held throughout the year. In the past, the Library has had special guests that included cowboys, musicians, actors, columnists and writers.

Computer classes for the public are offered throughout the year. Check with the library's Information Desk for available classes and times.
