Online Services


Mesquite Public Library offers a variety of full-text online databases that are available within both libraries or from your own computer.  Articles from the databases can be printed in either library for 10 cents per page.  Some databases allow you to e-mail the text at no charge.

Databases Available Within the Main Library and the North Branch Library

Dallas Morning News
This database features full-text articles from the newspaper dating back to 1894.  Death notices can be searched back to 12/29/2002.  Articles can be printed or e-mailed.

AllData Online
AllDataPro Auto Repair is an automotive repair database containing a comprehensive collection of automotive diagnostic and repair data.  Engine-specific diagnostic and repair procedures, electrical diagrams, maintenance schedules, and much more are all included in an easy-to-use format.

Mergent Online
Mergent Online provides access to the "most detailed, accurate and comprehensive global company database available."  It provides information on such items as business descriptions, history, property, subsidiaries, officers and directors, long-tern debt and capital stock for over 15,000 U.S. public companies.  It also has information on annual reports and financial statements.

Patron Books in Print
Patron Books in Print is a web-based bibliographic resource. Patrons can check the availability of titles in the "Browse by Subject" or "Fiction Section" to see if the newest book by an author has been released.  Search or browse through the "Children's Room" for children's favorite titles.  In "What Year Were You Born?" find events and bestsellers from previous years.

Texshare Databases
This extensive collection of databases gives users the opportunity to access full-text articles in encyclopedias, almanacs, reference books, journals, newspapers, and electronic books.  The databases provide information on health, business, biography, genealogy, and literature, in addition to homework help for students.  Databases include Ebsco MasterFile and Academic Search, HeritageQuest Online, Texas Digital Sanborn Maps, Ebsco Consumer Health Complete, Gale Literature Resource Center, InfoTrac Custom Newspapers, and Net Library.

Learning Express Library
Learning Express Library is an interactive online learning database containing practice tests and tutorials designed to help patrons, students and adult learners succeed on academic or licensing tests.
  Tests include academic, civil service, military, professional licensing, certification and TAKS tests.  Patrons receive immediate scoring, complete answer explanations, and an individualized analysis of test results.  Patrons wishing to use this database at either Library must use an Internet computer and proceed to www.library.mesquite.tx.us to access this database.

These databases enable the Library to serve patrons seven days a week.  See the above list for more information on each database.  Log on to the Mesquite Public Library web site at www.library.mesquite.tx.us to access these databases.

Dallas Morning News
Select this database and enter library card number and pin number.

Learning Express
Select this database and enter library card number and pin number.

TexShare Databases
A library card is required to access this database.  Request additional login and password information at the Library Reference Desk.

NetLibrary
After initial registration at either Library, patrons may access NetLibrary from their own PC and download audiobooks.


DOWNLOADABLE BOOKS

NetLibrary
NetLibrary is a collection of audiobooks available free of charge for patrons of the Mesquite Public Library. Initial registration to NetLibrary is required in either Library.  After registration at the Library, these audiobooks can be downloaded to your home PC and then transferred to a MP3 player.  The collection includes bestsellers, classic works of literature, language instruction programs, and the Holy Bible.  NetLibrary can be accessed through the TexShare database or at www.netlibrary.com.  Resources for downloading audiobooks at either Library are not available.
