The Mesquite Public Library System offers a variety of online resources including our online catalog, a diverse collection of databases and a number of digitized books.

Our online catalog allows you to check on the availability of library items, review your account, renew items, or place a hold. For any action that involves your account, you will need to have your library card number and PIN available. Please note that the catalog undergoes regular daily maintenance and so may not be unavailable between 10:30 pm and midnight.

TexShare Library of Texas is an extensive collection of databases which gives users the opportunity to access full-text articles in encyclopedias, almanacs, reference books, journals, newspapers and electronic books. Databases includeEbsco MasterFile and Academic Search, Heritage Quest Online, Texas Digital Sanborn Maps, Ebsco Consumer Health Complete, Gale Literature Resources Center, InfoTrac Custom Newspapers, and NetLibrary. You will need a login and password, which you may request from a reference librarian.

The Dallas Morning News database features full-text articles from the newspaper dating back to 1984. Death notices can be searched back to 12/29/2002. You will need your library card number to log in.

Mesquite News database features full-text articles from the newspaper dating back to 03/31/2006. Articles can be printed, saved or emailed. You will need your library card number to log in.

America’s News database features articles from newspapers, newswires, blogs, periodicals and web-only content. Includes Dallas Morning News, Mesquite News, Newsweek and USA Today. Also includes Current Events and Special Reports for homework help. You will need your library card number to log in.

Jobview Dallas-Ft. Worth is a job search engine which allows you to search and apply for job openings in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

Gale Legal Forms includes a wide selection of Texas legal forms. It also includes a directory of Texas attorneys and a dictionary of legal terms explained in layman’s language. You will need your library card number and your PIN to log in from your home computer.

Learn a foreign language with Gale Powerspeak Languages. Available languages are Spanish, French, German, ESL Spanish, and Mandarin. You will need to log in using your library card number and PIN, and then create an account to track your progress.

Learning Express is an interactive learning database containing study guides, practice tests and tutorials designed to help patrons, students and adult learners success on academic or licensing tests. Tests include academic, civil service, military, professional licensing, certification, and TAKS tests. There is also job hunting help on creating a resume and preparing for interviews. In addition, the Mesquite Public Library System offers AllData Online, a comprehensive resource for automotive diagnostic and repair information. This database is available only at the Mesquite Main Library or the Mesquite North Branch Library. It is not available from your home computer.

Some digitized books are available from HeritageQuest online, which is part of the TexShare databases, and from the Learning Express database. Books in HeritageQuest are usually historical or biographical in content and those found in Learning Express deal with career guides, job hunting, resumes, study aides or test preparation.
