The Mesquite Public Library System offers both downloadable eBooks and Audiobooks through the Northeast Texas Digital Consortium, powered by OverDrive, and downloadable Audiobooks from NetLibrary.

DOWNLOADABLE EBOOKS

eBooks from OverDrive can be checked out, downloaded and transferred to an eReader, such as a Nook, Nook Color, Sony Reader, Kobo, and many others. The Kindle, from Amazon, currently can only read eBooks formatted for the Kindle; however, a recent agreement between OverDrive and Kindle announced that Kindles will be able to download and read eBooks from OverDrive later in 2011.

Before you download your first eBook from our collection, you will need to download and install Adobe Digital Editions® on your computer.

To check out an eBook, you will need your library card number and PIN. You can check out a total of 5 eBooks or Audiobooks at a time, and the checkout period is 2 weeks.

If a title that you want is already checked out, you can place it on a waiting list. When it becomes available, you will receive an email from OverDrive. Once the email has been sent, you will have 3 days to check it out.

DOWNLOADABLE AUDIOBOOKS

Audiobooks from OverDrive can be checked out, downloaded and transferred to a portable listening device. Audiobooks in the WAV format can be played on any device that uses Windows Media; audiobooks in the MP3 format can be played on any device, including iPods.

Before you download your first Audiobooks from our Overdrive collection, you will need to download and install the OverDrive Media Console® on your computer.

To check out an audiobook from OverDrive, you will need your library card number and PIN. Just like with the eBooks, you can check out a total of 5 items at a time and the checkout period is 2 weeks.

The Mesquite Public Library System also offers downloadable Audiobooks through NetLibrary. Before you can download an audiobook through NetLibrary, you will need to set up a personal account. There is no charge for the account, but it needs to be set up from a computer at one of the library locations. If you need help, you can ask one of the reference librarians.

To check out an audiobook from NetLibrary, you will need to sign in with the login and password you selected when you set up your account. You can check out a total of 10 NetLibrary audiobooks at a time and the checkout period is 3 weeks.
