The library accepts donations of books and AV materials (CDs, cassettes and DVDs) that are in reasonably good condition.
Once items are placed in the collection bins at either the Mesquite Main Library or the Mesquite North Branch Library, staff will evaluate them for their timeliness and their condition. Some items may be added to the library’s circulating collection and some items may be sold at our Friends of the Library used book sale. The proceeds from the sale will be used to benefit the library.
We cannot determine the value of your donation for income tax purposes. We will send you a letter acknowledging your donation to the library. You will have to provide your own valuation to the IRS.
Once you give materials to the library, the gift becomes the property of the Mesquite Public Library System or the Friends of the Mesquite Public Library.
Yes, the library welcomes memorial monetary gifts or gifts of materials.
Fill out the memorial gift form. Be sure to designate who the memorial is in honor of and who should be notified of your gift. Give the completed form with your donation to the reference desk staff. If you have requested a certain item, your gift will be used to purchase that item. If you wish the library staff to choose an appropriate item, please provide some details on the person to be honored with your gift, such as a favorite hobby or pastime.
Material chosen for tribute will have a special plate affixed to it and a letter will be sent to the person of your choice acknowledging your gift to the library. If the item is in our circulating collection, it is then available for check-out.
