The Mesquite North Branch Library at 2600 Oates Drive hosts a
Manga Book Club open to middle school and high school age students.
The club meets alternating Saturdays from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the meeting
room at the North Branch Library. Club members talk about Manga
titles that they are currently following as well as any books that they
are reading and would like to recommend to others. During the second
half of the meeting, members watch episodes from Anime series.
The Mesquite Public Library at 300 West Grubb Drive hosts a Teen
Anime Club open to 12 to 18 year olds. The club meets on the fourth
Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the front meeting room of the Main
Library. The Anime club previews, discusses and recommends anime movies for the Main Library's collection.
Keep up with the Manga Book Club and the Anime Club at the
Mesquite Public Library Manga
Book Club and Anime Club Blog. You can check for upcoming
meeting dates and times, discuss your favorite Manga series, Anime movies and suggest
titles and movies for the library's collection.
The Texas Lone Star Reading list is a set of 20 Young Adult titles
recommended for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. The Mesquite Public
Library does have these titles available at both the Main Library and the North
Branch Library, and hosts a blog. The Lone Star Reading List
Discussion Blog is the place to discuss the books on the current and
upcoming lists, and unofficially vote for your favorite title from the
Lone Star Reading Star List. Add your own comments on the books and read
comments from others.
