Mesquite Recycles Day is presented by Keep Mesquite Beautiful and the City of Mesquite

Mesquite Recycles Day will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 from 8am to noon in the front parking lot of Poteet High School. Poteet High School is located 3300 Poteet Drive. Vehicles will enter the event through the front entrance on Galloway.

The following items will be accepted by our local charities:

  • The Mesquite Lions Club will be accepting gently used eye glasses
  • The Friends of the Library will be accepting gently used books, magazines, videos, DVDs, CDs, and Books on Tape
  • The Environmental Co-op will be accepting used cellular phones, cellular phone batteries and accessories, used laser and ink jet printer cartridges, and used rechargeable batteries
  • Sharing Life Outreach will be accepting gently used clothing, handbags, linens, and towels
  • Mesquite Social Services will be accepting Gently used toys and children’s items
  • Mesquite Solid Waste will be accepting Tires and used appliances

The following items will be accepted for recycling:
Electronic Waste including:

  • Computers,
  • Monitors,
  • Keyboards,
  • Printers,
  • Notebook computers,
  • Microwaves,
  • Stereos,
  • VCR’s,
  • Telephones and television sets.
Over the next year, as the television industry converts from analog to digital, we anticipate a large number of television sets to be recycled.

KMB and the City of Mesquite encourages our residents who will be affected by this change to recycle their used television sets.

A document shred pod will also be available on site. Documents will be accepted for secure destruction. Certificates of Destruction will be provided on site. Please log on to www.vistafibers.com for more information on the document destruction process.
