The mission of Keep Mesquite Beautiful, Inc. (KMB), in affiliation with Keep America Beautiful and Keep Texas Beautiful, is to educate and engage individuals to take responsibility for improving their community environment. KMB’s vision is to make Mesquite the cleanest, most beautiful city in which to live, work and visit.

Recycling Fashion Show (K-12th grade, college):
Participants Needed

The Recycling Fashion Show is an educational event presented by Keep Mesquite Beautiful., Inc. It is intended to educate the general public about recycling. Students from the Mesquite Independent School District and local colleges will model clothing made from recycled materials in a runway style fashion show. Each student will have the opportunity to design and/or model the recycled outfit. The event will be held on September 12th at West Mesquite High School. The cost is free. Attention Students:

Here are ways that YOU can help take care of Mesquite:

  • Recycle at home, school and work.
  • Save water by watering early in the morning or late in the evening.
  • Landscape with native Texas plants.
  • Save energy by turning off lights and the TV when you’re not using them.
  • Keep the air clean. Walk, ride your bike, or ride share when going somewhere.
  • Reuse things by sharing or donating toys, books, clothes, etc.
  • Compost fruit and vegetable scraps, and yard waste.
  • Pick up pet waste from yards, park trails and sidewalks.
  • Use pesticides and herbicides sparingly on lawns and gardens, an only after considering more natural methods of control.
  • Keep toxins such as engine oils, paint thinners, and pesticides out of sewers, septic tanks and storm drain; use carefully and dispose of them safely.
  • Participate in Trash Bash and Mesquite Recycles Day.
