GIS TECHNICIAN
Starting Salary: $34,044 min. annually

The City of Mesquite is seeking a qualified GIS Technician to join the Engineering Department. The GIS Technician will provide staff support in development, maintenance, updating and retrieving information from various GIS related files and relational databases of the City's Geographic Information System (GIS). GIS Technicians are expected to interpret and research legal documents and apply this information to the maintenance of varied GIS based data; digitizing cartographic data; entering demographic and geographic data into the data base. This position will also prepare maps according to specified criteria; assisting the public with requests and other information assignments.

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field with major coursework in GIS (coursework in AutoCAD, database management, and/or programming a plus)

  • NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.

  • Must possess a valid Class C Texas driver's license.

  • Must be available to work M-F 8am-5pm.

TESTING REQUIRED ONLY IF INTERVIEWED: Typing, Access, Excel, Math, Word and in house testing in AutoCAD-ARC GIS.


PROGRAMMER ANALYST
Starting Salary: $47,640 min. annually

The City of Mesquite is seeking a qualified Programmer Analyst to join the Information Technology Department. The Programmer Analyst will perform a variety of technical functions for the Information Technology Department including support and maintenance of existing software systems, development of programs to support new and existing City functions, and technical support to other City departments and divisions.

  • Requires an Associate's degree in computer programming, information systems or an Accredited Technical School certificate of completion with study in computer programming.

  • Requires two (2) years of experience in computer programming with strong emphasis on database applications.

  • Must possess a valid Class C Texas driver's license.

  • Must be available to work M-F 8am-5pm.


SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL CODE INSPECTOR
Starting Salary: $18.31/hr.

The City of Mesquite is seeking a Senior Environmental Code Inspector to work in the Community Development Department, Environmental Code Division. This position will perform a variety of environmental code inspections, investigate citizen complaints regarding potential code violations and will also perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED.

  • Requires a minimum one (1) year experience as an Environmental Code Enforcement officer.

  • Must possess a valid Class C Texas driver's license.

  • Must possess a certification as a registered Code Enforcement Officer.

  • Must be available to work M-F 8am-5pm with some after hours and Saturday inspections required.
