dot to appear before selecting the next two points. After selecting the last point
multiple red lines will appear. For a polygon area you will
need a minimum of 3 points. Once you click on the Complete Polygon & Select button the
first and last points are closed to form a polygon. The selected feature(s) will be
highlighted in yellow. The results of the selection process can now be viewed in the text display area. Make sure to position your points in such
a way so that the first and last points do not result in the closing line crossing over an
existing line as this will result in no features being selected.
Attention: When commencing the point selection process before clicking on
any of the selection buttons you can use the Restart to clear the existing lines and start
over or use the Delete Last Point button to clear your last point. Once you have clicked
on one the selection buttons you can start over by clicking on the select by line/polygon
button again and then the Restart button.
- After you have executed the select command, a table will appear located near the bottom
of the web page called the text display area with information
about that particular feature. At this time you may select a specific record by moving the
mouse cursor over the number which is located under the field/column called Rec.
You know you are in the correct location because you will see the mouse cursor turn into a
pointing hand. When the record(s) is selected the web page will zoom in and highlight the
corresponding feature(s) in red. The text display area also shows related database
information.
- You can drag and drop the results of the query into any text processing application,
such as Microsoft Word or Excel. With the left mouse button depressed, drag the cursor
across the columns to highlight the column titles as well as the records. When the records
you want are selected, simultaneously press <Ctrl + C> to copy, then open Microsoft
Word or Excel and then simultaneously press <Ctrl + V> to paste. The result will be
a text or table you may edit and sort.
