Abstract Information
Traditionally un-platted property are stored in abstract property books that can have many pages per abstract number. The pages themselves can be divided into sheets. Sometimes properties are referenced either by the sheet number or the page number. Here we make it simple! If you click on a polygon the Abstract Number, Page and Sheet fields tell which abstract page and sheet information goes with an area. You can go to either to DCAD or the Tax Office to find these books, or you can use the Mesquite Parcel Page to continue your search for particular properties within that area. Most abstracted property identification numbers in Mesquite start with 65 then the abstract number, then the page, and finally the tract number.
The un-platted properties have a number that breaks down in the following manner: (65 1607 045 10140000) The first two (65) numbers indicate mesquite un-platted properties, the next four characters (1607) are the abstract numbers, the next three (045) are the page numbers and the rest of the numbers (10140000) indicate block and tract. So in this case the abstract is 1607 page 45 tract 14. If a tract or platted parcel is split it may acquire a tract number like 14.1 that property would be displayed as 65160704510140100.
Subdivision Information
Subdivision properties are also stored in either residential or commercial property books. A component of the subdivision properties is the subdivision and addition name. The City of Mesquite has been developing a coverage for the platted subdivisions within City Limits. While the data here are not to be considered as complete and should be used with caution, it does provide information as to where the city’s subdivisions and additions are located. An addition (or phase) is contained within Subdivision. It may share the same name as the subdivision or it may be different. For instance the subdivision ORIGINAL TOWN contains several additions (DS CARVER and L C EBRITES), while the subdivision PALOS VERDES may have multiple phases reflected in differing plats (PALOS VERDES 4 and PALOS VERDES COMMERCIAL).
The platted properties have a number that breaks down in the following manner: (38 00050 064 0080000) The first two numbers (38) are the city designation, the next five (00050) are the subdivision number, the next three (064) the block number and the last set of numbers (0080000) are the lot number. So in this case we know that subdivision 00050 is in the Original Town section of the city of Mesquite. So we are looking at block 64 lot 8 of the Original Town subdivision.
