City ordinance requires that any person employed in a food establishment and involved in food preparation or food handling activities must be adequately trained to prevent the occurrence of foodborne illnesses.

Food Handler Cards must be obtained within 30 days of employment with a food establishment. Food Handler Cards can be obtained by attending Food Handler Orientation Classes held by the Health Division. Classes last approximately 1 hour and are held monthly. Both English and Spanish classes are available at the dates and times listed below. If you need additional information, please contact 972-216-8138.

Food Handler Orientation

Classes will be held at the City of Mesquite Health Division Conference Room at 1515 N. Galloway. The Fee is $15 for the card which is valid for 3 years. PLEASE BRING Identification to Class. Late arrivals will not be admitted.

Classes limited to first 25 people - Class Lasts 1 Hour
