On Tuesday, February 19, 2008 Mesquite residents in select neighborhoods received information from State Representative Thomas Latham’s re-election campaign. The campaign sent letters and placed door hangars containing inaccurate statements concerning plans for future growth at Mesquite Metro Airport. The City was never contacted by State Representative Thomas Latham, or his campaign staff, for information or clarification regarding future plans for the airport or the surrounding area.
It is important for the citizens of Mesquite to know their City Council is directly responsible for all development on the City’s airport property, and the Council has a successful track record of creating responsible development plans in, and around, the airport to limit all current and future impacts associated with general aviation travel. Our top priority is serving the citizens of Mesquite, and making the airport a good neighbor goes with that objective.
The information posted on this Web site is intended to correct the false statements contained in the Latham campaign literature. If you have concerns or questions, please contact my office at 972-216-6293 and my staff will be happy to provide you with the accurate information.
Sincerely, Ted Barron
City Manager
