AARP will provide free tax assistance for all citizens on a first come, first served basis. Volunteers to assist will be available during the months February, March and April. They will begin in February on the 1, 8, 15 & 22 on MONDAYS ONLY at the Mesquite Public Library, 300 W. Grubb Drive from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The AARP will continue to be available on Mondays only during the months of March and April. Interested individuals should bring a copy of last year's return and required paperwork (W-2 forms, 1099 forms, etc.).

HOW TO ACCESS A FREE E-MAIL ACCOUNT class offered from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at the Mesquite North Branch Library, 2600 Oates Drive. The class will include setting up an e-mail account with Yahoo, Google or MSN. Students will learn to compose, send, read, forward and delete e-mails. There will be an explanation of the parts of an e-mail address, including the name, domain and extensions. E-mail etiquette and security issues will also be addressed. Liz Lawless and Cleo Hearn will present a program during Black History Month on Wednesday, February 17 at the Mesquite North Branch Library, 2600 Oates Drive from 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. Liz Lawless is a creator and author. Cleo Hearn is a Cowboys of Color Rodeo Producer, one of the first African Americans to serve on the Presidential Honor Guard under President John F. Kennedy and the first African American to win a national calf roping championship. The theme of the program will be "The Forgotten Cowboys". The focus will be on cattle drives, ranch hands, big ranches, Wild West Shows and rodeos then and now.

Mesquite Parks and Recreation is hosting the annual Daddy Daughter Dance Friday, February 5th at the Mesquite Convention Center located at 1700 Rodeo Drive for fathers and daughters ages 4-12 years.
This year’s theme is “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend” Tickets are $10 per person per session and are available at any Mesquite recreation center, online at www.cityofmesquite.com, or the Parks and Recreation Administration office at 1515 North Galloway Avenue.
Session 1 will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for ages 4-8 and Session 2 will be from 8:30-10:30 p.m. for ages 9-12. Please note fathers cannot reuse their ticket for the next section and daughters must attend age appropriate sessions.
Event activities include music provided by Bill Cody's Party Time Productions, dancing, door prizes, and light refreshments. There will be a coat check service available for no extra charge. Professional portraits are also available for order at the event. Windsor Florist will be on location for the purchase of long stem roses for your sweetheart.
