First "Project Renewal" Development Approved Staff | 18-Feb-2008
Mesquite is celebrating its first "Project Renewal" development to be approved by the City Council.
In a unanimous decision today the Council gave the go ahead to enter into a deal with Lang and Company to develop a 60 acre City-owned site southwest of I-635 and Gross Rd. The $52-million dollar development includes a full service hotel and conference center, a series of restaurant and retail sites and commercial office buildings. Lang and Company has also agreed to build necessary infrastructure for the development.
The City has agreed to dedicate the land for the development, and will receive 30 acres of property back with open space improvements.
Project Renewal is the designation given to Mesquite’s new city-wide revitalization initiative. The aim is to seek out developers to create visionary projects which improve and update residential, commercial and industrial property in the city.
