  1. Jane Cornish Smith - Art Gallery Exhibition

    Originally from Canada, Dallas resident Jane Cornish Smith is a versatile artist, producing multi media paintings utilizing oil, mixed media, collage, and encaustic wax with equally diverse subject matter. She received B.F.A. and M.L.A. degrees from Southern Methodist University with coursework in studio art, art history and writing. She has completed artist residencies at the International School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture in Umbria, Italy, and at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont. An award-winning artist, Jane’s work has been shown in various solo and group exhibits, as well as numerous regional, state, and national juried shows. Her creations hang in private and corporate collections across the world.

  2. Yuri Anshelevich: It Sounds Better on the Cello

    Currently serving as Associate Principal Cello with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Yuri Anshelevich is a Russian-born cello virtuoso. He is often described as a performer of power imagination and vitality. This program Yuri will perform pieces originally written for other instruments. He will be joined by pianist Gabriel Sanchez.

    Join the Mesquite Community Band on Saturday, March 21 at 4pm for a concert titled, “Around the World.” The concert will take place at the Mesquite Arts Center, 1527 North Galloway in Mesquite. Enjoy an afternoon of music and fun as we joyfully take a musical journey to usher in springtime. Selections will include The Irish Washerwoman, British Eighth, Australian Up-Country Tune and more. There will be a $2.00 admission fee, with tickets available at the door. See you there!

Parks & Recreation

  1. Breakfast with the Bunny

    Enjoy breakfast and pictures with the Easter Bunny Saturday, March 21, 2015, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Evans Recreation Center, located at 1116 Hillcrest Street.

    Breakfast will be served for $5 and pictures with the bunny for $3. Breakfast with Bunny will also include a petting zoo, balloon animals and an egg hunt for children up to 9 years of age.

    The egg hunt will be broken down by age groups:

    • 0 to 2-years-old
    • 2 to 4-years-old
    • 5 to 7-years-old
    • 8 to 9-years-old

  2. Rodeo Parade

    In celebration of the Mesquite Championship Rodeo season the Mesquite Parks and Recreation and the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce will present the Rodeo Parade on Saturday, March 28, 2015

    The Rodeo Parade is a community wide event bringing together civic clubs, churches, community groups, sports teams and schools. The parade will follow its traditional route starting on Belt Line at Newsom, proceeding through downtown Mesquite and ending on Galloway Avenue at New Market.
