The Mesquite Symphonic Band, under the direction of Dale Y. Coates, will perform a free concert on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. The evening’s concert, entitled “By Popular Demand – Big Band” will be performed at the Mesquite Arts Center located at 1527 N. Galloway in Mesquite.

The fall concert will feature big band music and will include “Big Band Bash” arranged by Bob Lowden, ”In the Mood”, by Joe Garland, “Duke Ellington” arranged by Calvin Custer, “Star Dust” by Hoagy Carmichael, “St. Louis Blues” arranged by John Higgens, along with other selections.

Special guests for this evening’s concert will include The Sorta Sisters, who will present the vocal stylings of the “Andrew Sisters”. The singing trio will be dressed in 40’s attire and will delight you with several numbers, which will include “Apple Blossom Time”, “Don’t sit under the Apple Tree”, and The Boogie-Woogie Bugle Boy”. The local group, under the management of Dr. Bill Flynt, will take you back to yesteryear with their wonderful arrangements.
