Improvements @ Mesquite Metro Airport

Project Description: The Air Traffic Control Tower is completed at Mesquite Metro Airport. The official ribbon cutting and dedication was held on December 16, 2013. Official opening of the tower and new airspace changes effective February 6, 2014. The seven story tower facility will be manned daily from 07:00 a.m. to 09:00 p.m. daily. Current staffing provides for five controller positions and an air traffic manager who also provides air traffic services.This project has been ongoing in approval, design and development over a four year period. The $2.8 million dollar facility is was built with funding from the Airport Improvement Program which come from the sales tax and through City of Mesquite/Mesquite Metro Airport Capital Improvement Funds. The City of Mesquite is excited about this major development not only for the economic benefits it will bring to the airport and the community but also the additional safety it will provide to tenants and users of the airport facilities.
