Recreation Centers

Hours of Operation

• Dunford, Florence, Goodbar and Rutherford Recreation Centers open at 2 p.m. on weekdays for after-school programs.


• During MISD non-summer holidays, these facilities will be open at 9 a.m.


• Summer facility hours that will go into affect June 4 will be posted in March.

Recreation Centers are closed for New Years, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Membership Information:

• Mesquite Residents - $10/year
• Non-Residents - $25/year
• Fitness Room - $25/year

Recreation Classes

A variety of recreational classes and special activities are offered at the center for school-aged children to adults. Minimum class fees are charged and instructors are qualified, skilled individuals. Sessions are ongoing…check the FunForecast for current offerings. For your convenience, MasterCard, Visa and Discover are offered as acceptable forms of payment at the center, or your can register on-line. If a class is filled, individuals will be put on a waiting list and called if space becomes available.

Open Gym Times

Please contact the respective recreation center for more detailed information about open gym times. Times are subject to change to accommodate after-school program, reservations, makeup classes, voting, etc.

Specialist Instructors

The Mesquite Parks and Recreation Department is looking for energetic and innovative instructors to teach youth and adults classes/programs. If you have a unique talent, skill or idea, please contact a supervisor at the recreation centers by calling 972-216-6260. Instructors will be paid a percentage of the tuition.
