Community Services

The Department of Community Services for the City of Mesquite is comprised of several business units with varying missions, and all related to providing health and human services and support to our residents. The programs include Animal Services, Mesquite Transportation for the Elderly and Disabled (MTED), Keep Mesquite Beautiful, Inc., Volunteer Services, Mesquite Housing Division, Mesquite Health Clinic, and the administration of the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. Staff utilizes a combination of federal, state and local funds to deliver these services in our community.

Mesquite Public Health Clinic

The Mesquite Public Health Clinic provides low cost immunizations to children eligible for the Texas Vaccines for Children Program (TVFC). The purpose of this program is to increase the immunization level among Texas Children using state and federal funds if eligible for TVFC. A child is eligible if s/he meets one of these requirements:

  • Is enrolled in Medicaid, or
  • Does not have health insurance, or
  • Is an American Indian, or
  • Is an Alaskan Native, or
  • Is underinsured, or
  • Is a patient who is served by any type of public health clinic and does not meet any of the above criteria.

Hours of Operation

Monday through Wednesday
8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The public is seen on a walk-in basis.

Cost for Mesquite Public Health Clinic Services

Children’s immunizations-$15 per child
Influenza vaccinations for adults - $25
Influenza vaccinations for children - $15 per child
Tuberculosis (TB) tests - $20 (Monday’s only)
CHIP not accepted.

All children must have an up to date shot record prior to receiving vaccines. All children receiving vaccinations must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or an adult with written form.
