Requirements For Checking Out Audiobooks
A library card is required in order to check out books on CDs, audiocassettes, and Playaways®. Anyone over 14 with a library card can check out 5 books on CDs, 5 audiocassettes, and 2 Playaways® on one library card for 3 weeks. Items may be renewed one time as long as the item is not overdue or on hold. You can renew items by calling 972-216-6220 (Main) or 972-681-0465 (North Branch); by accessing “My Account” through the online catalog ; or by stopping at the checkout desk at either library facility.

For renewals, you will need the library card number that was used to check the item out and, if the renewal is done online, you will also need your PIN. Overdue fines for books on CD, audiocassettes and Playaways® are $0.20 per day for each item.

Playaway® Devices
With over 5,000 books on CDs and audiocassettes available, there is something for everyone, for any occasion. The library has bestsellers and educational audio for everyone. And with the addition of Playaways® to our library’s collection, there are even more ways to listen to your favorite books! Playaways® are small, portable listening devices that do not require a CD or tape player. All you need are ear buds and an AAA battery. You may also play them in your car, if you have the proper equipment.*

*Note: In order to play a Playaway® device in your car, you may need the following: a stereo system in your car, a tape player with a car audiocassette adaptor, FM transmitter car adaptor (to listen on your radio if you do not have a tape player or an auxiliary plug), or an adaptor cable if you have an Auxiliary plug in your car. Please drive safely while listening.
