Mesquite Parks and Recreation Department invites all dogs and their owners to this year’s annual Doggie Splash Day on Saturday, August 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be held at Vanston Pool, located at 2913 Oates Drive. There is a fee of $5 for one owner and one pet, $2 for each additional pet, and $1 for all spectators.
This event is a great opportunity for dogs and their owners to cool off, compete for prizes, or just play at the pool. Activities include access to the wading pool, small slide, and one-meter diving board, as well as the following contests:
Swim suit contest: 10:30 a.m.
Dog paddle race: 11 a.m.
Diving contest: 12 p.m.
In an effort to make sure that everyone in attendance has a safe and enjoyable experience, all dogs will be required to show proof of current vaccinations and must be accompanied by a responsible person 16 and older. Aggressive or socially awkward dogs may be asked to leave. Lifeguards will be on duty, so dog owners are invited to swim with their pets, if desired.
