The City of Mesquite Water Conservation Office is offering FREE workshops and events for Mesquite residents wanting to learn more about water-wise landscaping, water conservation, and sustainable, green practices. 

 Upcoming Workshops

Water Efficient Landscape

- Part 1 (9:00 am to 10:30 am)

Are you on a budget, but your landscape needs a facelift? Transform your landscape into a water efficient landscape. Come and learn basic design principles, plant placement, and hardscape so you can “do it yourself”’.

Water Efficient Landscape

- Part 2 (10:45 am to 12:15 pm)

Now that you been to “Part 1” learn to install and maintain your water efficient landscape design. Learn proper soil preparation, plant installation, hardscape installation and the maintenance of your landscape or garden.

Native and Adaptive Plants

Are you a “Native Texan” or a transplant? Plants are native or transplants too!! This program covers a large selection of minimal water use plants that are native and adaptive, ideal for a sustainable landscape or garden. You will learn proper soil preparation, proper planting, and native and adaptive plant selection. Plant list provided.

Water Conserving Plant Sales

The City’s Water Conservation office is partnering with a local retailer to offer Mesquite residents an opportunity to lean about native and adapted plants and save on select varieties of low-water use plants that can thrive in the Texas heat.  Attendees will have an opportunity to talk with a plant expert or irrigation specialist and get ideas and tips for landscaping in North Texas.  For more information on this event or for event locations in other area cities, visit: www.txsmartscape.com or call 972-329-8300.
