The Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of over 100 traffic signals within the City of Mesquite, to include those on state rights-of-way, in accordance with the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
Within the next few years, all traffic signals will be connected via fiber optic lines or wireless technology to a central traffic management facility and TxDOT’s DalTrans facility. Report malfunctioning traffic signals immediately to 972-216-4104.
Signs & Pavement Markings The Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for the installation and maintenance of all signs and pavement markings in the City of Mesquite, exclusive of state rights-of-way, accordance with the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

The Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all freeway lighting on state rights-of-way. Oncor, under its franchise utility agreement with the city, owns, operates, and maintains streetlights on all city streets.
