Effective October 21, 2014, the DART Board, STAR Transit, and City Council have approved a new three year agreement to operate the City of Mesquite Passenger Shuttle (COMPASS) service through December 31, 2017. Download the COMPASS Rider Alert for full details.
About the Service COMPASS is part of the city’s transit initiative.
It is a nonstop weekday commuter shuttle between Hanby Stadium in downtown Mesquite and the Lawnview Station on the Green Line located in East Dallas. This connection is made possible because of agreements approved by the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Board of Directors, STAR Transit Board of Directors and City Council.
Through December 31, 2014, DART will operate seven round trips each morning from 5 to 9 a.m. and seven round trips each evening from 3 to 7 p.m.
Beginning January 2, 2015, this service will be expanded to include hourly midday service from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For only $7 (the Mesquite System Pass) a day citizens get access to the shuttle and can navigate the entire DART system, including all the buses and trains.
COMPASS is a great way for those who live in Mesquite but work elsewhere in the region to save money on gas and parking costs as well as reduce the stress of driving in traffic. On the DART website, COMPASS is identified as Express Bus Route 282. COMPASS is also a fun way to connect with destination venues in the region, such as the Dallas Zoo and State Fair, for one-day family trips and visitor tours.
